SEALANTS TO PREVENT SCARRING
How can you tell if someone with beautifully straight teeth once had braces? Look to see if they have white scars along the gum line or around the area where the braces were attached to their teeth. Excellent brushing and oral hygiene is the only way to completely prevent these scars from developing, however, we add an extra layer of protection. How do we do this? By applying a protective layer of sealant material, specifically designed for the outer surface of teeth, where the braces will be bonded. We seal each tooth prior to placing the braces. This doesn’t mean you don’t have to brush really well and have excellent hygiene, but it is an extra layer of protection to help prevent visible, permanent scarring.
